I’ve been obsessed with high waisted mom jeans for so long and have been on the hunt for the perfect pair for years. The major problem with vintage style mom jeans is that they don’t have stretch or give, making it extremely difficult for most women to find a flattering pair for their body type.
A few years ago I spent months on end searching for the perfect pair of mom jeans for curves, that would fit my thighs and legs well, while holding snug at the waist and not make me look stubby. Alas, I was disappointed.
Being only 5’2 and a bit on the curvy side, jeans for me are always too long for my height and too big on the waist if they fit well on my thighs. Shopping for jeans, or bottoms in general, is probably one of the most frustrating things. Most everyday, affordable retailers don’t offer much diversity in sizes as well as styles so the battle becomes finding that one expensive pair that you’re willing to splurge on.
After many failed attempts and riding the struggle bus, that included buying jeans three sizes too big with the hopes of tailoring them to fit, I’m happy to say I’ve found the one. I came across these distressed, paper bag waist mom jeans that was sitting on a sale rack in Dynamite. They were the ONLY pair left and fit like a glove. My favourite feature is the blunt cut, frayed bottoms. I’m proclaiming these to be the perfect mom jeans for curves, hands down.
I’m really enjoying all styles of high waisted bottoms lately and I love that they cinch at the waist perfectly, creating the illusion of a shapely figure while concealing the tummy area perfectly. I love pairing them with a fitted top or a loose fitting t-shirt. I’ve linked similar styles with the paperbag waist below. They have just the right amount of stretch and a belted waist that allows your to wear them loose or as tight as your please.
I’m so happy I’ve found this post! I have purchased and returned numerous mom jeans because they would either be loose in the waist or wouldn’t make it up my hips! Thank you thank you for the recommendation!!
You’re most welcome, I’m happy you found this helpful. Good luck on your search- I hope you fall in love with a pair like I did 🙂
Love this! Those jeans are so cute. I have some major curves going on, and regular mom jeans just make me look frumpy and bigger than I am. Thanks for the advice!
I totally agree, I hate the way regular mom means make me look and the fact that they’re so boxy!
I’m also petite (5’0) so I hear ya with the struggle to find jeans that aren’t too long! I also have the same problem with pants fitting me around the thighs but being too loose around the waist. I found that the curvy fit pants from Loft help with that problem although I’m still looking for the perfect pair of jeans!
