When we moved into our first apartment together, my husband and I we were fortunate enough to receive a ton of housewarming gifts from family and friends that helped offset some of the costs of settling in. We hosted a small housewarming party that gave family and friends the opportunity to meet and mingle, drink, eat and be merry.
Everyone who attended was so thoughtful and did not come empty handed. By the time we had finished unpacking we had all the essentials we needed. Housewarming gifts for the win, honestly.
Starting a new life in a new home can be pretty stressful and financially draining. You quickly realize that you can no longer make “just because” purchases and chances are if you can live without something, you won’t be purchasing it any time soon.
I’ve put together a list of great, thoughtful and practical housewarming gift ideas that will help you add items to your shopping list for the next time someone close to you moves into their new home. We were lucky enough to receive some of the items below as gifts and let me tell you, they’re been a lifesaver!
Practical Housewarming Gifts
Silicone kitchen utensils – These are perfect for both cooking and serving meals. The silicone feature ensures that your cookwave and non-stick pots/pans go unscratched! I love that they come with a holder that can store nicely on counter tops, plus how cute is the colour?!
Bagless vacuum cleaner – I’ll be the first to admit that a vacuum cleaner is one of those appliances that you don’t realize you need until you realize you don’t have one. This one features a compartment that collects the dirt, all you have to do is dump it into the garbage to clean it out. No more dust-filled bags that need to be constantly replaced.
Keurig coffee maker – This is probably the best gift on the list in my opinion. Quick and easy brewing in under two minutes. Best of all you can use the Keurig to brew a variety of hot beverages, not just coffee.
Toaster – One might say that a four slice toaster is a luxury (that would be me, haha). If you’ve ever made breakfast for more than one person at a time, you’ll understand the importance of having a toaster that allows for multitasking. Otherwise one (or more) person always ends up with the cold toast. Everytime. This touchscreen version is only $70!
Air fryer – This is a new one on my list that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time now. I love the fact that it allows you to fry your favourite foods (that would be fries for me) without the access oil and fat. Here is a similar one for only $50!
Pyrex glass container set – I am all about investing in items that save me time and effort. These dishes are amazing and I literally use them for everything. They double up as bakeware as they are oven safe, you can serve food in them, and the best part: you can pop the lid on for quick storage.
Indoor countertop grill – This one is perfect for those (again, that would be me) who live in apartments or don’t have access to an outdoor grill. It’s perfect for grilling your favourite foods indoors. I have a cast iron grill pan which is another great alternative.
